Why this page exists

NBNL is run by a single person. As a micro-enterprise we are exempt from the statutory accessibility requirements under § 3 (3) BFSG. We are publishing this statement anyway — because motorcycling excludes nobody, and a website should not either.

This statement applies to the website www.nbnl.de including all subpages.

How accessible is NBNL?

Partially compliant with the WCAG 2.1 criteria at level AA. „Partially" means: some of the requirements are met, others are not — the known gaps are listed below.

The basis is our own automated test of 28 July 2026 covering the home page, spec sheets, the route map and the legal pages. There has been no external audit and no testing by affected users. „Partially compliant" is therefore a self-assessment, not a certificate.

What already works
  • Font size can be changed directly on the page (the „A A" switch at the top) without breaking the layout.
  • Dark mode for light-sensitive or contrast-sensitive eyes.
  • Operation by keyboard, semantic heading structure and a visible focus.
  • Alternative texts for images that carry content; purely decorative images are marked as such and skipped by screen readers.
  • No sound starts on its own. Engine sounds only play after a click and can be stopped at any time.
  • Images and videos created with AI are visibly marked.

Known limitations

We would rather name them than conceal them:

  • Zoom disabled: On mobile devices pinch-to-zoom is currently suppressed for technical reasons. As a fallback, the „A A" font-size switch is available. We are working on it.
  • Colour contrast: On several pages contrasts fall below the required 4.5:1 — above all for secondary text on coloured backgrounds.
  • Interactive maps (routes, route planner, navigator, weather) are visual tools and cannot sensibly be operated with a screen reader. Route data is available as a GPX download.
  • Games (racing game, card game) require mouse or touch operation and quick reactions.
  • User-generated content — photos and posts from the community — often has no alternative text, because it is written by members.
  • Nested controls in the route list can make screen reader output unclear.

Legal note

Since the requirements of the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG) do not apply to us as a micro-enterprise, no official enforcement procedure is available. This statement is voluntary and does not create any legal entitlement.

The exemption applies to services — and only as long as both thresholds are observed: fewer than 10 employees and no more than € 2 million annual turnover or balance sheet total. As soon as one of them is exceeded, we will review the requirements again. Further details about the provider in the Legal notice.
